Amazon Prime Video’s Hunters hit the small screen back in February 2020. Produced by Jordan Peele and created by David Weil, the alternate history drama is set in the second half of the ’70s in New York City.

It introduces us to a group of Nazi hunters who learn that hundreds of escaped, high-ranking Nazi officials have been conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the United States.

Needless to mention, the “Hunters” join forces and take the onus on themselves to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their wicked genocidal plans; each of which has the potential to brutally threaten the harmony prevalent in the United States of America.

The core group plans, plots, and strategizes to stop the creation of a Fourth Reich once and for all. A talented star cast comprising actors such as Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Josh Radnor, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa, Saul Rubinek, and Carol Kane help the series come across as both thrilling and dramatic in equal measure.

Official Announcement of Hunters Season 3

The second season of Hunters arrived three years after the series made its debut on Amazon Prime Video. Since it took the team almost three years to come up with a second instalment, a lot many viewers were left wondering if it would come at all.

However, the first season had culminated on a surprise cliffhanger and there were just too many things left to explore in the second season for it to have not arrived.

That said, now that most have the loose ends have been tied, it feels like the makers are not too keen to renew the show for a third season. Indeed, it was a tad surprising when Prime Video confirmed that the second batch of episodes would be the last that we see of the program.

While no reasons were provided for the cancellation of the third season, the story did end more quickly than we anticipated. Also, the second season only comprised eight chapters in comparison to the ten of the first season.

Nevertheless, it is imperative to mention that the story plays out across two different timelines in the second instalment. While many would agree that Hunters didn’t need to be pushed unnecessarily for new seasons, it is difficult to deny that it did have a bit more to offer.

Even if not an entirely new season, we are pretty sure that the story could have at least continued for a few more episodes.

Previous Seasons and Episodes of Hunters

Those who sat through the first season of Hunters were in for a massive surprise when it was revealed that both Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun were alive and hiding in Argentina.

So, of course, a natural progression for the series was offered as the viewers prepared to catch quite possibly the biggest hunt of all. As expected, it was exciting to catch Jonah and his associates track down Hitler and bring him to justice after they were finally able to chance upon him.

It seemed like a move that didn’t require to be spread out over one more reason, which explains why the second season turned out to be the ultimate grand finale.

Thankfully, most fans of the show were on the edge of their seats throughout the second season given that the premise for the same had been set during the climax of the debut season.

More importantly, the writers feel that they have managed to tell the story that they wanted to with the first two seasons. Both seasons comprise 18 episodes in total with a runtime of 46–68 minutes each.

However, there is at least one episode which goes on for as long as 90 minutes (In the Belly of the Whale). Some of the top-rated episodes of the series are The Home (Season 2, Episode 7), Shalom Motherf***er (Season 1, Episode 7), In the Belly of the Whale (Season 1, Episode 1), The Great Ole Nazi Cookout of ’77 (Season 1, Episode 9), and The Pious Thieves (Season 1, Episode 4).

Google Trends Data Analysis for Hunters Season 3

Those who have followed both seasons of Hunters know that there was a substantial gap between their releases. The debut season paved the way for the startling events that were to follow in the subsequent season.

In the second season, the focus was more on the hunters and how they devised several intricate plans to get to the infamous couple; all while trying to crash the rigid system from the very top.

As you’d have guessed, most of the thrills that were stored for the fans of the show had evaporated by the culmination of the second season. Therefore, the makers of Hunters had no option but to call off the series for good.

The announcement of the cancellation started to reflect on Google rather soon as the number of people searching for the third season of the series started to decline steadily. While some users did search for a potential third season following the premiere of the second season, their interest in the same lessened soon after.

For viewers to start taking an interest in the alternate history narrative of Hunters again, it is vital that some information concerning the third season of the show is released, or else the series may fall short of going mainstream in the true sense of the word today.

Social Media Engagement for Hunters Season 3

By now, we are well and truly aware of the fact that Prime Video’s Nazi-fighting series has bowed out with grace with its second and final season. In fact, the makers confirmed that the second season would be their last right when they announced its release date.

The cast was fleshed out with acclaimed actors which included the likes of the legendary Al Pacino, who agreed to appear in a series for the first time. Along with other members of the cast and crew, he helped create a significant fictional event which, ultimately, turned out to be the show’s highlight.

That being said, Hunters will not be renewed for a third season and people, as usual, have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the same. While most of the viewers were satisfied with how justice was delivered in the story, some were also hoping for things to have escalated to a fresh season.

Those who have seen the show also seemed to be happy with how the story’s seamless evolution goes on to showcase what fighting the most heinous of monsters does to the heroes who promise to bring them to justice.

Expected Plot of Hunters Season 3

Sure, many are disappointed that Hunters season 3 isn’t happening. While we may have to make do with the first two seasons only, the announcement of cancellation cannot possibly deter us from speculating what the third season could have been about.

We think that a new season would have probably shown the brave group going after the rest of the Nazis around the globe who haven’t been brought to justice yet.

Also, it would have certainly been spicy to catch Travis, the evil neo-Nazi, turning out to be the chief antagonist in season 3. Add to that the fact that it would have been exhilarating to witness his plans to lead the “Fourth Reich” getting jeopardized.

Needless to say, our heroes would have left no stone unturned to stop Travis dead in his tracks. Indeed, their only objective is to not only expose the Nazis but also fetch them what they truly deserve for their inhuman crimes.

So, yes, we are of the opinion that the third season would have also proven to be one heck of a ride had the makers decided to go ahead with it.

Either way, we are satisfied with the fact that the story has been told sincerely throughout the two seasons.
