Since then, there have been many rumours floating around regarding the cause of the cancellation. Some rumours claim that the financial woes were the reason for the cancellation, while others claim creative differences.
However, the most often repeated rumour claims that the actual reason for the cancellation was Manny Montana, who had scheduling and money conflicts. None of these rumours have been confirmed.

Previous Seasons and Episodes of the Show
The first season of Good Girls was aired in 2018 on NBC. The show was created by Jenna Bans and it dealt with three women who are struggling with financial and personal crises.
The show focuses on how the three women team up to find a solution that is the best possible solution for their situation but is morally wrong. Season one had 10 episodes and ended in April 2018.
A year later, in March 2019, season 2 premiered. It had thirteen episodes, and it delved deeper into the personal lives of the three women as they struggled to manage their daily lives and the run-ins with the law.
We see Beth Boland, whose husband leaves her for a younger woman. Ruby Hills is also struggling with her husband, who is a gambling addict, while Annie Marks is a single mother whose ex-boyfriend is a criminal.
All three women bond over their shared misery but are united in their hope for a better and safer future. Season three premiered in February 2020 with 11 episodes, followed by season four in March 2021 with 16 episodes.
All these seasons establish that the women manage to make money through illegal activities and money laundering, but they also find it difficult to evade the law and other criminal elements.
While the situation seems grim, the episodes present a darkly comedic take on the moral ambiguity and ethical ambivalence of each of the good and bad guys. The team moves from one ridiculous scheme to the next and gets deeper into the mire.
Season four ended with many unanswered questions, and it would have been an excellent setup for a potential season 5. This is what devastated fans and followers the most.

Good Girls started out as a crime-comedy-drama where three broke and reluctant women turn to crime to save their families. As the seasons progress they all change with the situations they face, and the fourth season finale shone a light on how much they changed.
NBC has not renewed the series for a new season, but if there were to be a next season, we could expect the below scenarios to form the basis of the plot.
In season four, Annie Marks has been arrested, and the trio appear to be broken. As she is in jail, Annie does not have her friends to watch her back, and she has to face new challenges on her own.
This could and most definitely will affect her and her prospective crime career. We also see that Ruby is caught in a fix. She has to decide if she wants to keep up her criminal career with Beth or if she wants to go back to Stan and possibly build a new life.
Beth, on the other hand, has gone off the rails on her power trip. She does not want to stop her criminal career and has even become a councilwoman. The Feds are still on her trail sniffing for evidence.
There is also Rio, who is currently in prison. The fifth season will most likely follow the individual fates of each character as they walk their path alone. With Rio out of prison, it would be fun to watch the future of Beth and Rio’s relationship.
