Plotting the Web: What to Expect in ‘So I’m a Spider, So What?’ Season 2

So I'm a Spider, So What?

So I’m a Spider, So What? is a beautiful isekai anime series that can entertain you for its entire tenure as it takes you on an interesting journey filled with passion, drama, and a lot of positivity.

The story follows the life of a girl who was casually sitting in her class minding her own business when all of a sudden….. BOOM! A mysterious explosion takes place and the entire class is gone now.

There’s no trace of their presence and it all seems to have ended. However, that isn’t the case. In reality, the entire class has been teleported to another world where every student has been reincarnated as a new beast.

Unfortunately for our main character, she ends up getting reincarnated as a spider, which is arguably one of the weakest species in this new world. Moreover, she is then placed in a situation where she has to face extremely strong beasts in a dungeon and that’s how miserable her life ends up getting.

Hardships are unbearable and challenges seem to be infinite but our main character isn’t going to lose hope and instead, will face all these hitches with a smile on her face.

And that’s where the journey begins. A journey that talks about striving in this new world and making it big, if it’s even possible to make it big at all.

This anime originally started as a web novel which ended up becoming a complete light novel written by Okina Baba and illustrated by Tsukasa Kiryu. From that point forward, the series got an anime adaptation as well as a manga adaptation.

The anime adaptation was produced by Millepensee and aired back in 2021.

Official Announcement Of So I’m a Spider, So What? Season 2

As of the time I am writing this, there doesn’t seem to be any official announcement regarding the release of the second season of this anime. It’s been over 3 years now since the show aired back in 2021 and it would seem like there would be an official announcement by now but there isn’t.

This is fairly surprising since anime these days get a notice of their sequel fairly quickly. So some might feel that this show may never get a sequel. However, we have to keep in mind that animation or producing an anime, even a sequel, requires a ton of planning and organisation.

Therefore, it isn’t surprising that anime sequels tend to get delayed for months, and oftentimes years. No wonder we haven’t had any news about the show yet. The good news for all the fans out there is that this anime has more than enough material to have another season.

As you already know, the anime was adapted from a light novel. And the first season only adapted 5 out of the 16 volumes of the entire light novel. Therefore, there’s plenty of stuff to be used by the animators.

Moreover, since the anime had a solid rating of 7.45, rated by over 229,000 people, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the show might be under consideration for a sequel by the officials.

Previous Seasons and Episodes Of So I’m a Spider, So What?

So I’m a Spider, So What? is unique even with its approach to airing on screens. The show aired back on 8th January 2021 and had a grand total of 24 episodes.

However, these 24 episodes weren’t your standard 24 episodes. Instead, they were split into 2 cours and thus, the first season of the anime ended with 2 cours having 12 episodes each.

Each of these episodes had a runtime of around 23 minutes. The final episodes aired on July 3rd, 2021. And ever since then, there hasn’t been much movement in the episodes or seasons provided by the franchise.

The anime was created by Millepensee and directed by Shin Itagaki. The series is based on the light novel of the franchise which is based on the web novel itself.

Google Trends Data Analysis

The Google Trends Data doesn’t seem to be all that motivating. It has only a few peaks and the rest of the graph is basically non-existent. This highlights that the show hasn’t been in discussions lately and that’s quite a negative sign for anime fans as it showcases a lack of interest.

The highest peak took place between October 8 to October 14, 2023, and while there isn’t any strong reason for that, it does highlight that people are still seeking a sequel even 2 years later.

So all in all, Google Trends Data isn’t very positive. However, once we get even a simple announcement, the dynamic can change in a second. But we would have to wait for that.

Social Media Engagement

Whether it is Quora, Reddit, or X (formerly known as Twitter), a common theme is being noticed in all these social media platforms. And that theme is the desire for a sequel.

Fans have admired the first season with all their hearts and they are looking forward to the next season. However, there’s no denying that this show is going to have a huge fan base waiting for it as people speculate when the sequel will be released.

Moreover, there is a positive notion across all three platforms that indicates that people are optimistic about the arrival of the next season. They might feel that it won’t happen quickly but they are certain that it will happen at some point.

And that’s a good sign for us.

Expected Plot Of So I’m a Spider, So What?

The next season of this incredible anime will focus on our main character’s life after the events of the first season. Since the series ended at the 5th volume, it is only natural for the show to continue adapting to the very next volume of the light novel series.

Kumoko and her life as she continues her journey in the demon realm will be a subject of discussion in the next season. Moreover, we might get to experience new challenges and even more formidable characters that will shape the way this series will flow.

The series might even include events where Kumoko is training her reborn classmates as well as a situation where the party sneaks off to villages. So you can rest assured that the next season is going to be an absolute banger when it comes to the plot and key storyline.

Therefore, to shed some light on these beasts as they make our life so much more fun in their own way, here are 5 characters from So I’m a Spider, So What?

Anime series.

1. Kumoko

Kumoko

Although she hasn’t been given a name in the series, there’s no denying that she makes herself quite memorable for the audience. And despite the fact that she ended up becoming one of the weakest monsters in the show, she managed to survive the Great Elroe Labyrinth, the most dangerous dungeon in the entire series.

Therefore, you can rest assured that this character is filled with excellence and talent. Although she seemed to be stressed and overwhelmed in the start, as the story continued, she managed to gather composure and create a life for herself that each one of us would love to follow through.

Within the span of 2 years, this character fights, levels up and becomes more and more complete.

2. Feirune

Feirune

Feirune, also known as Fei, is one of the lead characters in the realm of So I’m a Spider, So What? She was reincarnated as an Earth Wyrm. She was the most popular girl in her class back in the day and things seemed to have flipped upside down for her as she was reborn as a creature barely the size of a lizard.

Now that’s a downgrade. But as the story continues, she evolves and ends up reaching the size of a dragon and now she can’t even fit in a room. Moreover, she was also a bully in her earlier life. However, in this new world, she is actually concerned about other people.

3. Shiraori

Shiraori

She may seem like a ghost at first. However, there’s more to her personality than what meets the eye. Shiraori is one of the lead characters in the show and happens to have ghost-white skin and long silver-white hair.

This seems like an intimidating appearance and let’s just say that she does have an intimidating appearance in a horrifying way. However, that doesn’t change the fact that she is quite shy in her approach and the way she deals with things is a lot more different than other people. All in all, this character managed to entertain the audience very well.

4. Ariel

Ariel

Ariel is a character that will make you fall in love with the show. I mean just look at her outfit. It is quite something. She is one of the few characters that look identical to a normal human.

And she is a pretty attractive one at that. Moreover, if we talk about her personality, she is quite rude at times and happens to have a laid-back attitude. She is also the current Demon Lord so you can bet that she is critical in the overall story of the franchise.

You can feel the hype in this show with her presence on screen and that’s what makes her worthy of our appreciation.

5. Sophia Keren

Sophia Keren

Sophia is also a character who will make you fall in love with the show. While it may not happen in the way you are assuming it to happen. She is one of the most beautiful characters in the show.

Her appearance involves having white skin, silver hair, red eyes and an hourglass figure. Yup, that’s quite spicy. Moreover, her nature is also interesting and the fact that she is a vampire, just adds more flavour to her presence in the show. Despite being filled with a lot of female characters, Sophia manages to stand out and make a name for herself in unique and creative ways.
