Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
Cyberpunk Edgerunners took the entire anime industry by storm when it first came out back on 13 September 2022. The anime was animated by Studio Trigger and happens to have 10 episodes as an ONA series based on the original Cyberpunk game.
The show is filled with high-octane action that focuses on the life that exists in the Night City. This world is crafted in such a way that it infuses the realm of technology with humans in a complex and convoluted way.
However, this integration was meant for the sake of survival. But the situation right now looks a lot more critical and the difference between a world created for survival and a world created for self-destruction seems the same.
The story of this show focuses on David who happens to be suffering from this world. He was forced into this realm where he either had the option of death or he could survive and experience the horrors of it.
My man decided to survive and ended up becoming a mercenary of this world who will be fighting against the corporations causing the misery that we are experiencing in this world.
And along with his gang, his mission is going to be a lot more plausible. Needless to say, that experience will be worth all our time and effort. The show follows a theme with respect to its animation as it has a neon-filled look to it that comes off as something sleek and fancy to a lot of viewers.
Moreover, the cast of the show is spectacular, making this anime nothing less than a fest to watch.
Official Announcement Of Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2
There is some bad news waiting for you my friend. The second season of Cyberpunk Edgerunners might actually end up being a dream for everyone as there are some statements put forward by officials in CD Projekt Red’s team that will shake you from the core.
Have a look. Speaking to Famitsu, via VGC, CDPR’s Japan country manager Satoru Honma talked about the concept of Edgerunners season 2: ”I personally would like to continue to work with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, partly because we have received very good feedback,” said Honma. “However, just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone work, so there’s no such thing as ‘we are actually working on Season 2 in the background’.
Even if we could make more anime in the future, I don’t know if it would be Season 2 or something completely different.” “Overseas people say that the anime has given CDPR a second chance.
We are grateful to TRIGGER for giving us the chance to enjoy the story of V and Johnny Silverhand after watching the anime.” This highlights the fact that there’s no second season in plan so, we should rest assured that another season is still far away from reality, despite all the success that this series has garnered.
Moreover, we haven’t had many sequels from Studio Trigger anyway so it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that things are bound to be low overall.

Released back on September 13, 2022, Cyberpunk Edgerunners has been an incredible sci-fi series that will shake you from the core. It was an ONA released for 10 episodes with each episode lasting for almost 25 mins.
And its producers are none other than CD Projekt Red themselves. Moreover, Studio Trigger took up the task of making this show a reality. And happens to be the animation studio responsible for it.
The story is based on its game-counterpart and director Imaishi Hiroyuki has been accountable for making it as amazing as it is. Needless to say, just one season of this show was enough to make people lose their minds.

Google Trends Data Analysis
I mean, there isn’t much to say here. After all, the graph is pretty much empty here. The graph talks about the “Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2” search term and its trends are basically absent.
The only time that the trends have had any moment is between December 24 to December 31, 2024. That’s it. And I wouldn’t be lying if I said that’s one of the most horrible trends I have seen when it comes to sequels.
A good reason for that could be something like the absolute nature of the official announcement. Moreover, there’s no known reason for the spike during the Christmas season of 2023 and so, it seems more or less like a fluke.
All in all, the trends are not very optimistic to look at.
Social Media Engagement
The social media platforms are not being very optimistic about this show either. Whether it is Quora, Reddit, or X, fans are realizing the true nature of this show. They seem to be looking at a world where this anime does get another season and the speculations are at an all-time high.
However, the reality is a bit different and in this world, this show isn’t getting another season. There isn’t much hype or enthusiasm among fans. And a good reason for that would be nothing but the ending of the show.
Since it had a very fulfilling ending, people aren’t all that interested in having another season that isn’t necessary.
Expected Plot Of Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2
If the next season were to happen, you can expect the following two situations to become reality. The first situation is a continuation of Lucy’s life and how things are going to go for her.
However, this would lead to a new set of characters and we aren’t really sure how people would perceive that. As for the other option, it’s a reboot. Well, not exactly a reboot but another season with an alternative storyline or ending.
And it wouldn’t be surprising if we do get something like that since it fits the theme of Cyberpunk very well. All in all, the second season, if it ever happens, will be portrayed in either of these two ways.
Important Characters Of Cyberpunk Edgerunners
The beauty of this anime lies in the characters that have made it an experience. And so, the following list is going to make you fall in love with this article.
Here, we will be reminding ourselves about the incredible cast that made the series as fascinating as it is. And let’s just say that these individuals are just too good to overlook.
1. Lucy
This woman is someone you wouldn’t want to mess with. And that’s what makes her so special for all of us. Lucyna Kushinada also known as Lucy is one of the lead characters in the series.
People love her introverted nature and her outlook on life. The fact that she considers Night City, a prison, highlights her character a lot. Moreover, she is someone who may look introverted at first but has the ability to take down someone against her without breaking a sweat.
All in all, this woman plays a crucial role in the story and does her part extremely well.
2. Rebecca
Rebecca is insane, to say the least. I mean have you seen her fight? She just loses her mind at all times. And that’s why people love her character as well.
She is quite loyal though, as she does her work extremely well. And the fact that she gave David a chance at the group, proves that she is someone who trusts the gang with all her heart.
If we take a deeper look at her, we will get to understand that this woman had a rough life and it was her time with her brother that made her think that she would be the one to kill him.
A deep character with a lot to look forward to.
3. David Martinez
This man got the status of a Night City legend. Can you believe that? And when that happened, he decided to do what was necessary and immediately joined a gang.
Now that’s intelligent. David is the main character of the show who is a mercenary and a member of Maine’s Edgerunners crew. He joined the crew in 2076 and from that point forward, things started to get out of hand for him.
He did what was necessary and we understand the beauty of this show from the eyes of this man. That is why David is someone people respect and love with all their hearts.
4. Maine
He is the one who kept everyone together. And that’s why people look up to Maine and his personality as a leader. He is an ex-military soldier who ended up becoming a mercenary.
Currently, he is working as an Edgerunner and although he wants to make it big in Night City, there’s no denying that this man is someone with a ton of character and personality.
I mean if you just look at his life, you will realize that he loves his team, more than himself. And that selfless nature from his end makes him worthy of people’s respect and appreciation as they watch the show.
5. Falco
Falco is our wheelman, ladies and gentlemen. And let’s just say that everyone loves his assistance in all their endeavours. Falco is one of the lead characters in the show who happens to be part of Maine’s crew.
And the sheer support that this man gives to his team is just insane. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Maine’s crew would have had it rough if it wasn’t for Falco’s presence.
All in all, he is someone that people will respect and appreciate. As the story comes to an end, we get to see this man change a lot with respect to his position and lifestyle.
