Official Announcement of Amphibia Season 4

Amphibia was a Disney channel series that was telecast between 2019 and 2022. The series is an animated series that was created by Matt Braly and boasted many famous voice actors.

In 2022 Disney announced that the third season was the final season of the series, much to the disappointment of its followers. Matt Braly, the creator of the series, stated that the series was obsessed with the number three, which was why they had three girls from three races and three gems.

So naturally, the series could only have three seasons as well. He said that the show was planned to be a three-season show. Alex Swanson, the storyboard artist of the show, also confirmed that the show was always meant as a three-season show and there was never a scope for any more seasons.

With this, hopes of Amphibia season 4 were killed off.

Previous Seasons and Episodes of Amphibia

As mentioned earlier, Amphibia was an animated Disney series that was greenlit by the Disney channel in 2018. The series was created by Matt Braly and revolved around a Thai-American girl, Anne Boonchuy, who accidentally transports herself and her two other friends, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu, into the magical world of Amphibia.

The series premiered in June 2019 and had 20 episodes in the first two seasons. Even before the show premiered, it renewed the series for season 2 which was telecast in July 2020.

After facing some delays in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were renewed for Amphibia season 3 in June 2020 with only 18 episodes. In this series, the three friends face many challenges, adventures, and fun expeditions to find their way back to Earth.

Along the way, they make new friends and grow up in maturity. This is in line with Disney’s theme of happy children and teens growing and learning together.

Google Trends Data Analysis

The animated series Amphibia, from the Disney channel, has achieved the kind of popularity across the world that only anime shows can manage. Although the series ended in May 2022, fans and followers of the series are still discussing and raving about the show.

The Google Trends for the past 12 months indicate that the followership and craze of the series hit the peak every time any new update or mention of the series comes around.

In October 2022, an article was published about the creator of Amphibia, Matt Braly. At the mention of the show, fans and followers went crazy with their curiosity and enthusiasm.

The trends have dropped since then, but they maintain a consistent flow. Google Trends indicates that the show has found its sweet spot, right below the halfway mark on the data charts, and the show maintained its popularity at this level for the past 10 months.

Social Media Engagement

As with Google Trends, the animated series also maintained a low profile that fluctuated with any news updates on the crew. In October of 2022 and August of 2023, there were news articles on the show’s creator, Matt Braly.

This caused an uptick in the activity on social media platforms. The general activity was centred on Facebook and X(Twitter), with some discussions happening on Reddit. However, despite the low activity, the overwhelming mood of it all was love and appreciation, and some were also sad that the series was not coming back.

Expected Plot of Upcoming Season

Amphibia is a Disney animated series that was very successful among all age groups. Hence, when the series ended after three seasons, fans were disappointed. There was severe backlash demanding that they renew the show.

The show’s creator allayed their worries stating that the show had always meant to have only three seasons. Yet he also gave hope that he was always open to creating a spin-off show if Disney was interested.

Considering the above news, we could see a spin-off of Amphibia where we followed up on the life of the Plantar family after the finale in season 3. In the ending episode, we get to know that Sprig has decided to become an adventurer and travel the continent.

These adventures could fuel Amphibia season 4 or the spin-off.
