What will be the cast of it? And many more questions would be answered here.
So bring out your favorite husbandos and let's start our analysis for Seraph Of The End season 3.
But before we dive deeper into this series and its sequel, why not take a quick look at the info we have in our hands at the moment.
Just to be sure that we are on the same page, let's look at what we know about Seraph Of The End so far.
Everything We Know So Far About Seraph Of The End
Seraph Of The End or "Owari No Seraph" is a 2 season long TV anime that started airing back in 2015.
It was first broadcasted on April 4 and the final episode of season 1 aired on June 20 in the same year.
However, this was not the end of it. The second season started airing on October 10, 2015, and ended on December 25 of the same year.
That is the reason why many people don't look at the second season titled "Owari no Seraph: Nagoya Kessen-hen" or "Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya" as another season.
Instead, they treat it as part 2 of the first season. However, for the sake of avoiding confusion, we would be calling 'Battle In Nagoya' as "Season 2" and not Season 1 part 2.
Anyway, both the seasons were 12 episodes long, animated by WIT Studio, and directed by Tokudo Daisuke.
The series is an anime adaptation of a manga. The manga was written by Kagami Takaya and Furuya Daisuke and illustrated by Yamamoto Yamato.
Kagami Takaya has created multiple mangas and light novels with the most famous ones being The legend of the legendary heroes and A dark rabbit has seven lives.
Furuya Daisuke on the other hand has been responsible for the story of Kure-nai and Scared.
And lastly, illustrator Yamamoto Yamato's performance can be witnessed in works like Denpa-Teki Na Kanojo, Gelatin, and also Kure-nai.
If we talk about WIT Studio, they are the kings of post-apocalyptic or ancient settings.
With fabulous shows like Attack On Titan and Vinland Saga under its sleeve, this studio is known as a force to be reckoned with.
If we talk about the director Tokudo Daisuke, he has been responsible for episode direction in popular anime like Banana Fish and Attack On Titan.
So we can be sure that our man knows his stuff. Well, that clears all the staff and stuff.
Let's do a quick revision of the story of the series. Seraph Of The End is set on an Earth which was attacked by a deadly virus.
Initially, it is our normal planet with normal life but all of a sudden, an unknown virus makes its way to humanity and makes it go extinct.
Almost extinct. The thing is, this virus only proves to be deadly for humans over the age of 13 and thus, children survived this incident.
But these survivors aren't free just yet. They are now in captivity of Vampires who were hiding in the shadows during the presence of humans.
But now that humanity is done for, Vampires made their way to the surface and gained control.
Amongst those children was Yuuichirou Amane (aka Yuu) who got settled to the Hyakuya orphan due to some family issues, right before the virus had spread.
And after the virus incident, his entire orphan and children within it were taken into captivity by Vampires including his best friend Mikaela Hyakuya (aka Mika).
Years have passed and a new society has formed where Vampires are the upper beings and they strive on the human blood from the ones they have captured.
For this trade, humans get shelter and food to strive upon. It's not a terrific deal but Yuu isn't ready to accept his life like this.
He wants freedom and to reach out to the outside world where Vampires aren't ruling humans.
His current family is his Hyakuya orphan members that were captured as well and he wishes for their freedom too.
Mika cares about Yuu and his family so he decides to find a way to escape this horrendous world.
However, fate doesn't allow them to do so since the escape failed miserably. When Yuu, Mika, and other members tried to escape, they were caught by Ferid Bathory who ends up killing the entire family.
Luckily, Yuu manages to escape the location but his loved ones were not fortunate enough.
Raging with anger and pain, Yuu swears to kill all of those vampires that have made his life hell.
And to his surprise, he isn't alone. Turns out that the virus didn't actually kill the entire humanity and a few adults survived the situation.
These survivors that weren't captured by the Vampires decided to take their planet back by using dark magical powers.
One of the leading companies in this activity is the Moon Demon Company that approached Yuu for his support.
Now Yuu has joined the group and is looking forward to fulfilling his dream. The dream of the death of all those filthy vampires and avenge his family's murder.
So that covers the synopsis weebs and I guess this would be enough for us to start our analysis.
So now that we are certain to be on the same page, the best course of action is to look for official announcements.
Let's do it!
Official Announcements And Release Date Of Seraph Of The End Season 3
Official announcements are the one-stop destination for sequel seekers. If an anime has any release dates or declarations done by the folks over at the respective studio, then the sequel will happen no matter what.
So is that the case with Seraph Of The End as well? Are there any official announcements regarding Seraph Of The End out yet?
Well, we have run out of luck, weebs because as of the time I am writing this, there haven't been any announcements regarding the release of seraph of the end season 3.
No trailers, teasers, or announcements. We haven't got any sort of information from the folks over at Studio WIT.
There haven't been any statements passed on by author Kagami Takaya or anyone else involved in the series.
As painful as it may sound, this is the truth and we can't do anything about it.
Or can we? Well as fans, if we want the answer to our question of the sequel, we have to do some analysis, some research, and some speculations.
But don't worry! I have done all the work for you. This article has every bit of information that needs to be taken into consideration for the possibility of a sequel.
So all you have to do is just sit back, relax and read. Let's dive deeper into it and see what we have.
Starting from where it all started, The Manga.
More Source Material Information On Seraph Of The End Season 3
As I mentioned earlier, Owari No Seraph is an anime adaptation of a manga written by Kagami Takaya and Furuya Daisuke and illustrated by Yamamoto Yamato.
Amongst these creators, Kagami Takaya is the most significant individual as he is the one that contributed the most to the series.
Speaking of the manga, it started publishing back on September 3, 2012, and is said to be going on to this day.
It is serialized in Jump SQ with genres of action, supernatural, vampire, drama, and shounen listed to it.
And even though it is listed as 'Shounen', a lot of appreciation for this series comes from the females in the anime community.
Speaking of appreciation, the series gained a lot of love and admiration from fans which resulted in the anime adaptation taking place.
The first season adapted the first 15 chapters of the manga. Whereas the second season adapted the next 26 chapters, thus ending at chapter 41.
And this is where things get interesting. You see, the second season of the anime adapted till chapter 41 of the manga.
That chapter was released in Japan on January 4, 2016. Keep this date in mind because the second season of the anime aired from Oct 10, 2015, to Dec 26, 2015.
If you notice something, the adapted chapter serialized 8 days after the anime ended. And that is why the ending of the anime and the ending of chapter 41 don't match.
Yup, the ending of season 2 in the anime is different from the ending in Manga.
And what's the change you may ask? Well, it's the fact that Yuu is still a full demon in the manga whereas, in the anime, he becomes a human again.
It is said that Kagami wrote a separate ending just for the anime and so the series appears to divert a bit from its source material here.
Now returning to the date when the manga chapter was released. January 4, 2016, is when the finally adapted chapter was released and at this point, the anime is already ahead of the manga.
And if an anime catches up to the manga, it starts getting fillers so that the manga can move ahead and create more content to adapt.
However, Seraph Of The End doesn't have any fillers so that is the reason why we haven't got a sequel yet.
That's right ladies and gentlemen, the core reason why we haven't got another season of Owari No Seraph just yet is that the anime caught up to the manga and so the manga required time to create enough content for another installment.
And it's been over half of a decade since that event so the manga has enough chapters for the next season to take place.
In fact, as of the time I am writing this, there are over 106 chapters of the manga.
The first season required 15 chapters to adapt into anime while the second required around 26.
If we take an average of 20 chapters for every season, we can rest assured for the next 3 seasons without the fear of running out of material to adapt.
So worry not fans, the anime was dropped because of a completely logical reason, and its return is not a far-fetched topic now.
However, a few controversies are going on about the series regarding its adaptation and I will address them later in the article.
So keep reading because those controversies are very important to take note of. But for now, let's take a look at the amount of popularity this series has been getting.
Popularity Information Of Seraph Of The End Season 3
Popularity is an important factor that decides whether anime will get another season or not.
If Seraph of the End is popular enough, the chances for another season would increase drastically because creators want to appeal to their fans.
So our analysis should try to comprehend the magnitude of popularity this series possesses. And to do so, we will be looking at 3 factors about the series.
Trending on Google trends, popularity on Twitter, and the number of searches on Google aka search volume.
Let's do this.
Our first criteria will tell us how frequently an anime or its sequel was trending or talked about.
If we search for Seraph of the End season 3, the results are quite unexpected.
As you can see, the series has mostly been constant with its popularity. The series spiked from 18th April to 24th April but before and after that, the searches have been low.
This isn't exactly a bad thing. It just shows that the anime hasn't been trending as frequently and it makes sense.
Think about it, without any announcements and 5+ years of wait is more than enough to demoralize many fans.
It still spiked at the end of April and remained consistent otherwise. We can say that Owari No Seraph season 3 is a fairly looked-after topic.
The next platform that would help us in our research is Twitter. This is where many creators and enjoyers come together so it would be a great website to measure the popularity of a show.
And with 140k followers on Twitter, we can comfortably say that this series is known by A LOT of anime fans out there.
That's right! The official Twitter account of Owari No Seraph has over 140,000 followers which shows how loved this anime is.
So we can rest assured that our beloved Seraph Of The End is loved by a lot more people.
By the way, just for reference, Vinland Saga has around 41k followers on Twitter and it ended up getting a sequel.
The final criteria for our popularity judgment would be the strongest one, Google Search Volumes.
These are the number of people searching for Seraph Of The End season 3 and it would give us a direct idea about its recognition in the community.
So how many people search for our beloved series. Well, the number stands at 29K searches per month which isn't magnificent but not horrible.
After all, the series is over half a decade old and there are no new content put out by it.
So this is somewhat understandable but we shouldn't necessarily overlook the entire concept. These searches show that the series isn't as popular at the moment which is worth taking into consideration.
Across the board, the popularity of this anime is great. It's not a trending topic right now but it's just a matter of 1 hint from the creators and the hype will be back again.
Looking forward to it.
Expected Plot Of Seraph Of The End Season 3
Now with so many positive regards from our multiple criteria, I think it's time we take a look forward to the next season and try to contemplate more about its content.
If the third season does end up happening, what will be the storyline for it?
How will the series progress in the upcoming installment? Well, there are 2 possibilities. If the anime does follow the manga then the series would go in the direction of its source material.
But since the anime created a few changes from its source material, we can say that the anime might end up with its new storyline.
Although this is just a theory and all the changes of the anime can be rectified in the next season with a few tweaks here and there.
The next season would most likely follow the Osaka Arc of the manga. This is where new and stronger vampires from all across the world would head over to Japan to resolve the conflicts there.
These new characters would have many superiors including Russian Vampire Noble Urd Geales. This would lead to our squad having more and more trouble fighting against the vampire.
There is also a lot of stuff to be uncovered about the Hiiragi family and Kureto Hiiragi's plans to overpower the vampires and take over the world.
Overall, we can say that the next season is going to be an absolute banger!
No doubt about that! So now that we have a rough idea as to what could be in the upcoming season of Seraph Of The End, why not see what other fans think about it?
Online Reactions To Seraph Of The End Season 3
Online reactions are a great way to know if an anime's sequel is appreciated by fans or not.
Seeing what other fans think or reading their opinions about their favorite shows is ideal for us to get a general idea about the fandom's thoughts on the next installment.
And to do so, we are going to take a look at 3 popular platforms.
The first platform is the home to anime creators and fans, Twitter. This is the website that tells us what fans want from a series and their quick thoughts on the same.
And if we search for Seraph Of The End season, the results are worth looking at.
Almost every Seraph Of The End fan is CRAVING for the next season. A lot of memes are being made daily and fans can't help but desire the sequel from the depths of their heart.
I feel them. However, the folks over at WIT studio are tight-lipped so we can't say much about it.
What we can say for sure is that Twitter fans would love to see another season and that's a positive reaction in my book.
Now let's take a look at Reddit, the home to over 1.6 million anime fans.
Getting to know the thoughts of such a massive group would be detrimental to our research.
So what do we have on this renowned website? Well well, to my surprise, it seems that a lot of people on Reddit are a bit negative about the possibility of a sequel.
Many users are claiming that the next season won't happen because the sales of DVDs or Manga weren't high.
We are going to discuss more of it later in the article but for now, we are getting some pessimistic responses from Redditors.
They aren't wrong. Rather, they have a negative attitude towards the show. So yeah, we can say that Reddit users have a somewhat negative reaction to season 3.
The final platform we would explore in the home to millions of questions, Quora. This platform has answers to almost all your questions including your anime sequel ones.
So what does Quora or rather Quora users have to say about Season 3? Well, yet another surprise for Seraph Of The End fans.
Quora users aren't THAT interested in season 3 and instead are talking about the franchise in general.
Within that discussion, there are a few people who do mention the third season of the series but there is no dedicated post about it.
So we can say that the series has a neutral reaction. Wow, we have got an impartial response across all platforms.
Twitter is positive about season 3, Reddit is negative and Quora is neutral. I guess we can call it okayish reactions online since they aren't necessarily negative or positive.
Why Do We Want Another Season So Badly?
Now one question that would be in many people's minds, especially those who aren't fans of Seraph Of The End would be "Why Do People Want The Third Season So Much?".
And the answer to that is rather simple. It's because the show isn't over yet!
There are plenty of questions that are yet to be answered like what will happen to our gang?
What will be the future of the world? How did this all start? How will the Hiiragi family react to this? so on and so forth.
This anime is a pretty enjoyable watch and there's no reason for you to not desire the next season.
The characters are great, the storyline seems to be going in the right direction, and most importantly, the animation is pretty good.
It has bits of EVERYTHING that we want from an anime and that is why people want another season for it so badly.
But are the only ones who think so highly of the series? Or are there other fans as well?
Why not have a look?
Ratings And Reviews Won So Far By Seraph Of The End
Ratings and reviews are a great way to know what the general public thinks about a specific anime.
It also helps us to get a vivid idea of how much critical acclaim the anime has received.
So let's take a look at what websites like IMDb and MyAnimeList have to say about Seraph Of The End.
The most popular movie rating site, IMDb, has a lot of users that can give us a good idea about Owari No Seraph's critical appreciation online.
And it seems that the series is fairly liked with a 7.5/10 score on the platform.
The reviews claim that the series is very enjoyable and the story is quite captivating.
The relationships are the biggest selling point for them and this anime is worthy of another part.
Overall, we can say that IMDb is a decently appreciated anime on IMDb.
Now let's look at what hardcore Otakus have to say about this series. While the first season has a score of 7.49/10, just like IMDb, the next season has an increased score of 7.63/10.
These are some pretty good numbers for MyAnimeList because getting past 7.5 on this website is quite the challenge.
Reviews appreciate the series for having good animation and a hint of boys' love. A few elitists are calling it 'boring' or 'generic' but those guys never get chill so we can ignore them for a while.
We can say that the series is quite good in terms of ratings and reviews on MAL.
Across the board, we can say that the series has decent ratings and reviews. They are good enough for a sequel and shouldn't be a major hurdle for the same.
Profit And Sales Details Of Seraph Of The End Season 3
Now we are going to discuss the most important aspect of anime production, SALES. It's common sense by now that if an anime doesn't sell well, it would most likely NOT get another season.
So if we want to know about Seraph Of The End Season 3, this is the segment for it.
If it doesn't perform well here, it is game over. Let's have a look.
A great stream of monetary support towards the creation of any anime is its source material.
If the Manga of Seraph of the End has good sales for the volumes released after season 2 then the chances for another season would be considerably high.
So are they? Well yes, they are! The manga of seraph of the end sold over 12 million volumes by June 2021.
Even the light novel with Gurren's backstory had over 128K copies sold in 2015 (which made it one of the higher selling light novels that year) and 100k more copies sold in 2016.
However, recently the manga sales have been going down since volume 18. Readers claim that the series lost track after this volume and became confusing or boring.
The average record of 100k copies up till volume 18, dropped to 90k for volume 19.
This is considerably less because the last volume had over 120K copies. This proves the point of fans dismissing the new volumes and thus, the manga sales going down.
But to be fair, if the creators want to make another season, the sales up until volume 18 would be more than enough for the same.
They would have enough to make the next installment. So it's all on them for now.
Now let's discuss another important factor for income, Bluray sales. Since the anime aired in 2015, Blu-rays were still a major part of income for an anime.
Good Blu-ray sales mean extremely high chances of another season. So what do we have for Owari No Seraph?
Well, the numbers aren't amazing. The first volume had over 6000 copies sold which is great but for the later volumes and the sequel, the sales average at 3000 which isn't a terrific number especially during 2015.
So yeah, the Bluray sales weren't that good. This is detrimental and can shape things for the fate of the series.
Overall, we can say that the anime could be made if the creators really want it.
However, for now, these numbers aren't good enough that they would take place. So this is the red flag that can stop the next season from happening.
But if we hope for the best and the next season does end up happening, which of our favorite characters would be in that?
Famous Characters To Reappear In Seraph Of The End Season 3
Now let's say that WIT Studio decides to make a sequel for this series. If they do so, who all will be featuring in it?
Which of our favorite characters would return? Let's have a look.
Our protagonists and lead boy Yuuichirou aka Yuu will make a return for sure. He is the one who swore to destroy the vampires forever but he hasn't been able to do that yet.
We would love to see him do what he wishes to do, as always, and destroy the entire vampire civilization!
She is the sweetheart of the show that needs to return no matter what. Being from the Hiiragi family, she is bound to be important in the storyline later on.
And it would be great to see her chemistry with Yuu and other characters.
My man Mika got turned into a vampire and had his brainwashed by those filthy creatures.
His reunion with Yuu and his gang gave the story a massive turn and his contributions in the upcoming season would be massive.
Bet me on that one. I am looking forward to him getting back to his senses and joins humanity again.
Our gangs' boss Gurren is yet another admired character that is looked upon by many as the best from the series.
His change in attitude during the second season was heartbreaking but he had his reasons and things seem to be at a place, at least for now.
Let's see how his character goes in the future and the upcoming seasons. Other characters like Mitsuba, Yoichi, Kimizuki, and Ferid are bound to be in the next season as well.
Their character arcs aren't over yet and we need more of them doing their stuff.
We need it, man!
Other Decisive Factors for Seraph Of The End Season 3
Now let's have a quick look at some factors that can decide the fate of the series in the long run.
We are going to talk about the 2 aspects that can potentially make or break the next season.
Starting with the ending.
Ending Of Seraph Of The End Season 2
If the ending of Owari No Seraph had an opening for the next one, then it would be great news for us fans.
And in the case of this series, that's a plus point. If you remember correctly, the second season ended with Yuu becoming a demon but reaching back to his human form thanks to his gang, his family.
Later on, Kureto's plan turned out to be a failure, and he got separated from the Moon Demon Company.
A lot of damage took place and things went out of control. Luckily, Yuu, in his demon form took care for the most part, and later on, the vampires stopped the situation from getting.
Now Yuu, Mika, and their new family are on the task of finding freedom in this world and wish to rescue Mirai and Gurren from Sanguinum, the place that was taken over by the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.
With that, the series ended, and as you can see, this is a cliffhanger that can be used for the next season.
So there wouldn't be any problem for another season to show up.
Controversy Around Seraph Of The End
If an anime has a major controversy revolving around it, then the chances for its sequel would decrease massively.
Luckily for Owari No Seraph, that's not a problem because there isn't any major controversy.
However, as explained earlier, the fact that the manga and anime had different endings can be a hurdle in the making of the sequel.
The fact that they resolved to a change instead of having the same ending as the manga proves that the staff had something else in their mind.
Possibly, they were experimenting and hoping that if the second season performs successfully, they will rectify this ending with next season.
But that created a controversy amongst fans about whether the staff would consider the series now.
Many claim that they really wanted to make a sequel, they would have made it by now since over 100 chapters are out and they only need 20.
The fact that they didn't mean that they aren't interested. But you see, this isn't exactly a controversy that would change the decision for a sequel but rather an extended discussion.
Either way, all we can hope is to expect Studio WIT to take the positive way out of this situation.
Overall, we can say that there are chances for the sequel to happen. Although, they are quite low.
This is because the sales and popularity at the moment aren't good enough to cause the next season to happen.
As fans, we should hope for the best and look forward to the release of the next season.
Thanks a lot for reading and until next time, Sayonara!
