Inuyasha is a Japanese manga that was first serialised in the shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday in 1996. The plot of the series revolves around Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old girl belonging to modern-day Tokyo, who has been transported to the Sengoku period after accidentally falling into a well in her family shrine. While there, she comes across the half-dog, half-human demon Inuyasha.
 

The series is a classic and has a total of 193 episodes to its credit. Being a continuous series has seen several characters with impactful roles coming forward, as the story progressed. This also means there also quite a few filler episodes in the series; 35 to be precise.

 

However, it’s important to note that even though these episodes are regarded as fillers within the verbal representation of the series, there’s no denying that there’s a lot more depth and emotion in their storytelling than what meets the eye.

1. The Beautiful Sister Apprentices (Episode 59)

 

This episode focuses on Sango as she will be taking a step back from all her endeavours and keep her closed as she returns back to the Demon Slayer village.

 

Now why is she going back to the Demon Slayer village? Well, that is because she intends to repair her Hiraikotus. Moreover, upon her visit, she decided to perform a few more tasks that were important, to say the least.

 

She decides to put her father’s ashes to rest, as well as her comrades’ ashes to rest. And as she was being comfortable and complacent, misery strikes and things start to get out of hand. 

 

 

2. The Red and White Priestesses (Episode 63)

 

The story talks about Tsubaki who takes a look at the Onmyoji Mansion. This was the place where she was once honed to be such a great warrior.

 

And that’s why she knows the ins and outs of this place. She decides to do the unthinkable here.

 

She goes on to plan an opening of a forbidden door. And it is then that she will be able to train an ogre that was sealed due to Shikon Jewel.

 

There’s a reason why people look up to this episode so much. Moreover, Tsubaki makes two princesses fight Inuyasha as well.

 

 

3. Giant Ogre of the Forbidden Tower (Episode 64)

 

Tsubaki is a dark priestess who was considered to be on the same level as Kikyo. However, she decided to choose the evil path because the Shikon Jewel wasn’t entrusted to her.

 

Inuyasha and the team take her on without breaking a sweat. However, problems start to arise when they realize that things are bound to get worse.

 

The seal of the Ogre is finally broken. And that’s nothing less than Disastrous.

 

 

4. Farewell Days of My Youth (Episode 65)

 

A possession-focused demon seems to have paved its way to our main cast. And although they assumed that it was the Centipede it wasn’t.

 

Sango gets possessed by the Demon and starts fighting Miroku. Later on, Miroku gets possessed and things start to get worse.

 

Shippo tries to escape, only to get cornered by a small shadow. That shadow is going to be the game-changer.

 

 

5. Shippo Gets an Angry Challenge (Episode 68)

 

This episode focuses on Shippo. Souten, the last of the demon thunder tribe, has sent a specific challenge for Shippo.

 

And let’s just say that the challenge is quite intimidating.

 

 

6. Totosai’s Rigid Training (Episode 72)

 

The story talks about Inuyasha visiting Totosai for a technique that can allow him to break through Naraku’s barrier.

 

During his training, he comes across Bunza, a wildcat demon child who seems to be the older disciple of Totosai.

 

However, it turns out that both of them were following the same orders in the same regard. If anything, Bunza falls off earlier than Inuyasha.

 

 

7. The Plot of the Panther Devas (Episode 75)

 

The Panther Tribe is out for Revenge. They seek two things. First, is the Shikon Jewel that is placed in the hands of Kagome.

 

And secondly, they want to have a battle with Sesshomaru and Inuyasha who are the sons of the Dog General.

 

Now their approach is going to be interesting here. Because they will be taking a step back and kidnapping Kagome in the most unconventional way possible. That’s why you must watch this episode.

 

 

8. Target: Sesshomaru and Inuyasha (Episode 76)

 

It seems like Inuyasha had no problem making it across the Panther’s Barrier, thanks to his red Tetsusaiga technique.

 

Not only that, he was able to make their way into the castle town. However, Miroku and Sango are in deep trouble.

 

Why? Because these guys are under the Divas’ spell and Kagome is behind bars. The situation seems to be quite critical for all the characters who are playing a part in this episode.

 

 

9. The Panther Tribe and the Two Swords of the Fang (Episode 77)

 

The Panther King, who acts as the general of the Panther Tribe, happens to make a move for the Shikon Jewel.

 

Our boys Inuyasha and Sesshomaru have attacked the mummy. And in the process, they have made an opening for Koga and the others to secure Kagome and take her to a safe location.

 

If the Panther King gets his hands on the Shikon Jewel shards then the situation will get so bad that we won’t be able to see it.

 

 

10. Only You, Sango (Episode 78)

 

Sango seems to have got a marriage proposal. It looks like a young lord named Kuranosuke had fallen in love with Sango 6 years ago.

 

And now he has returned to get the love of his life. He is a wealthy, handsome, and strong being.

 

Therefore, it would be tough for Sango to deny his offer. However, Kagome seems to have other plans. She is more interested in getting Miroku and Sango together.

 

This dilemma is going to be an amazing one for all of us.

 

 

11. Jaken’s Plan to Steal Tetsusaiga (Episode 79)

 

This episode is focused on Jaken and his attempts to get his hands on Tetsusaiga. This weapon is infused with a technique that allows its users to break through barriers.

 

And as Jaken tries to get his hands on it, he tends to fail, over and over again. Things start to lose track when this guy fails continuously.

 

However, with the help of a cheap trick, he manages to get Inuyasha to a hot spring. And it is during that moment, that he secures that Tetsusaiga for himself.

 

 

12. Nursing Battle of the Rival Lovers (Episode 89)

 

Kagome seems to have had her luck turned upside down. She is back in the present day. And her absence is critical.

 

Why? Because Inuyasha is panicking right now. And as someone who tries his best to save his friends, he goes on to collect some of the most nutritious food available.

 

And to do so, this man will take down anyone and everyone that stands in his way. This is why the episode is all worth it.

 

 

13. Sota’s Brave Confession of Love (Episode 90)

 

Kagome’s brother, Sota happens to have feelings for a certain someone in his class. And he decides to take the chance and confess to her.

 

He reaches out to Inuyasha for some tips that can make him look more manly. However, in the end, he just decides to go along with a plan engineered by Kagome.

 

This episode is going to be filled with smiles and blushes.

 

 

14. Jaken Falls ill (Episode 96)

 

Jaken seems to have got bitten by Naraku’s poisonous bugs. Rin tries to save him but fails since she is coming across a formidable opponent.

 

And that opponent is none other than Jinenji. This half-demon is now a human. And that is going to be a problem.

 

Rin must secure the fruit of Sennenso from Jinenji’s fields if she wishes to save Jaken, once and for all.

 

 

15. Kirara, Come Home! (Episode 97)

 

Kirara seems to have left her place. Panic has broken out among people. Sango is worried and is working towards getting Kirara back.

 

On the other hand, Shippo is focusing on why Kirara might have disappeared. All these features are coming together and forming a new opinion.

 

During this, they come across a thundering sound that seems to be game-changing. Why? Because upon searching for the source of that sound, they come across the scarf that Kirara had.

 

And now it seems like the team is quite close.

 

 

16. Kikyo and Kagome: Alone in a Cave (Episode 98)

 

It seems that Kikyo and Kagome are in trouble. They were both called into a cave. And it was because of a sound coming from the cave that made them feel like someone needed help.

 

Now Kagome tries to escape but Kikyo tells her that it’s useless. They are stuck there for good and that’s because the cave is a demon called the Priestess Sealer.

 

And this demon is going to be the one who will make sure that Kagome and Kikyo don’t make it out alive. There’s a reason why they are in.

 

 

17. Koga and Sesshomaru, A Dangerous Encounter (Episode 99)

 

The story focuses on Ginta and Hakkaku who had a dispute with Koga. And although the reason wasn’t anything big, they still ended up parting ways.

 

Soon enough, they come across Rin and Sesshomaru. And now things are going to get interesting. When Giant and Hakkaku look at Rin, they realize that some instances have happened in the past that conveys to them that Koga and Sesshomaru must stay away from each other.

 

However, things started to get even more interesting when he isn’t able to stop them from causing all the havoc that is bound to happen.

 

 

18. Truth Behind the Nightmare: Battle in the Forest of Sorrow (Episode 100)

 

The story focuses on a Garamaru who is a poisonous moth demon. This demon has put everyone to sleep and those who are asleep, end up fighting in their dreams.

 

That’s how it goes. However, Inuyasha is awake. And that man is going to make sure that Garamaru is down.

 

He succeeds but the Cocoon in which others are kept asleep continues to thrive. And soon enough, all those who were in the cocoon started to transform into moths.

 

 

19. The Snow from Seven Years Past (Episode 101)

 

It seems that the snow is a bit off today. And using this opportunity, Koyuki takes the chance and abducts Miroku.

 

What happens afterwards is mind-blowing. Kagome and others come across the idea of a Snow Demon. In search of that demon, they venture out and come across Sango.

 

Moreover, they also realize that Miruko is with Koyuki and she is going to take her somewhere unexpected. The idea here is that Koyuki has brought Miroku to a bunch of kids and claims that they are his kids.

 

Yup, things are quite fascinating indeed.

 

 

20. Chokyukai and the Abducted Bride (Episode 129)

 

Chokyukai is a demon who has been revived and now this demon is going to steal girls. Moreover, a man named Kisuke decided to give Kaede a helping hand.

 

On the other hand, Inuyasha seems to settle upon defeating this demon. Upon arrival at the right spot, this man realizes that things are a bit more complicated than what meets the eye.

 

However, that’s just part of what makes the show so great. After all, Chokyukai seems to be leading a water imp and a monkey.

 

 

21. Shippo’s New Technique, The Heart Scar! (Episode 130)

 

Shippo is getting some fans for himself. You see, after a battle, a few people have started considering Shippo a hero and have asked him to be their disciple so they can learn his move, the wind scar.

 

But since Shippo isn’t a great teacher, he isn’t able to teach that move. However, he doesn’t want to look like a clown and so, he ends up deceiving people into believing that he is teaching them something.

 

However, his act soon gets caught and things start to get interesting between these characters.

 

 

22. The Woman Who Loved Sesshomaru (Part 1) (Episode 133)

 

The story talks about Sara who seems to be mysterious on the outside. However, it turns out that Sesshomaru had saved her once.

 

And after she was revived, she came to meet the saviour she had before. Things start to get interesting when we realize that she died of an illness.

 

And that’s what makes her even more interesting. Not only that, she seems to have gotten her hands on Inuyasha’s Tessaiga and turned both Miroku and Sango into glass statues.

 

This woman is an absolute menace and you can’t beat that.

 

 

23. The Woman Who Loved Sesshomaru (Part 2) (Episode 134)

 

Sesshomaru seems to have a dilemma in front of him. He is asked by Sara to kill her and destroy her spirit.

 

And Sesshomaru, although the one who saved her at one point in time, agrees to her and eventually finishes her with Tessaiga.

 

Kagome and Inuyasha look at her final moments and look back at everything that has happened.

 

 

24. A Strange Invisible Demon Appears! (Episode 136)

 

There seems to be a strange demon out there in the town. And that demon is stealing treasures without being observed by anyone.

 

It’s invisible. When an old lady failed to secure that demon, she realized that she needed help. So she reaches out to Inuyasha and his gang.

 

Now, these guys are in charge of guarding the second-biggest mansion in town. This is going to be an amazing episode.

 

 

25. An Ancestor Named Kagome (Episode 137)

 

There seem to be a few interesting events happening here. Akitoki, who is an ancestor to Hoji, is on a journey.

 

And that journey is going to be a remarkable one. Why? Because he is going to hand over a disaster-causing demon sword to someone.

 

And Inuyasha’s squad decided to accompany him. This is why things started to get interesting between them. However, soon enough, they will realize the truth about this situation.

 

 

26. Mountain of Demons: Survival of the Duo (Episode 138)

 

Hojo and Kagome seemed to have separated their ways from the team. However, it was an accident and so, they are trying their best to get back to them.

 

In the process, they end up meeting a demon. And that demon is taking them both to their leader.

 

Needless to say, Kagome manages to outsmart them and escape. On the other hand, Inuyasha ends up meeting the leader and realizes that this monster has some interesting plans.

 

It’s his inability to move that will give him an edge over anyone else against him. That’s what this is all about.

 

 

27. The Great Duel at Shoun Falls (Episode 139)

 

Hoshiyomi seems to have committed a lot of crimes in one go. Firstly, he has used the Kon Blade to steal the demonic powers that exist inside Tessaiga.

 

Moreover, he has decided to capture Kagome. To make sure that Kagome is safe, Inuyasha must visit the shrine of the wind and thunder gods.

 

This is going to be a lot more fun than we imagined.

 

 

28. Eternal Love, The Naginata of Kenkon (Episode 140)

 

Tsukuyomi and Hoshiyomi seem to have a meeting ahead of themselves. And that meeting is a lot more interesting than what meets the eye.

 

Although it was assumed that Tsukiyomi is dead, it has surfaced and taken control over Kagome and now their meeting is going to decide their future.

 

 

29. Forever with Lord Sesshomaru (Episode 162)

 

There seems to be a major problem in the area. There’s a demon out there who is kidnapping children and this has triggered a priest leader who is against demons in every regard.

 

Therefore, this priest decides to take the situation into his own hands and goes after them. In the process, it is revealed that Rin is also kidnapped and so, Inuyasha and the gang decide to take action and follow up.

 

This is why the battle is going to be a game-changing one. And Sesshomaru is going to have the time of his life in this episode.

 

 

30. Kohaku, Sango and Kirara: The Secret Flower Garden (Episode 163)

 

This episode focuses on the reminiscing events that took place in the series. The idea here is simple. The Demon Exterminator’s village is also Sango and Kohaku’s hometown.

 

In this episode, Kirara visits the place. And when she does, she realizes that this place is beyond incredible.

 

She looks back at the days that she used to enjoy with Sango and Kohaku in this village.
