Official Announcement on Animal Kingdom Season 7

Animal Kingdom premiered on TNT in June 2016 and successfully ran for five more seasons to conclude in August 2022 with its sixth season. The series has been a staple of TNT during this time, and when the series concluded, neither TNT nor the show creators made any official announcements.

The season finale of season six had a good ending that tied up all loose strings and accounted for all the main characters, indicating that this was the end of the show.

There was no scope for asking for a new season. This meant that the ending was preplanned. Although the show gave clues that it was nearing the end of the rope, and the creators gave a satisfactory conclusion, some fans were hopeful.

However many insiders commented that the decision of TNT to move away from scripted shows to unscripted reality TV was the reason for the end of the show. It is safe to say that the chances of Animal Kingdom season 7 are close to non-existent at this time.

Previous Seasons and Episodes of the Show

The first season of Animal Kingdom was released on June 14, 2016, and it had ten episodes in it. The subsequent five seasons each had thirteen episodes in them. The complete series is made of 75 episodes.

The first season started with the entry of the grandson, Joshua “J” Cody, into the Cody family. He is the son of Julia Cody, the estranged daughter of Janine “Smurf” Cody.

He is introduced to the criminal family consisting of his adoptive uncle and three biological uncles. The first season revolves around the inner dynamics of the Cody family and their various criminal activities.

It also establishes the dysfunctional family that is controlled by the matriarch, Smurf. She is a cunning and wily woman who does not trust or shy away from cheating on her own children.

The second season establishes that while Smurf is the head of the family, there is deep-rooted resentment and distrust among the family members. Each of them is violent and corrupted in their own way after being used and controlled by the mother for the maximum benefit of the family.

The third season comes with a few shockers as key family members are done away with, and more insight is given into the lives of all the members. Through the fifth and sixth seasons, we see the gradual decline of the family.

The finale fittingly brings an end to most of the main characters.

Google Trends Data Analysis of Animal Kingdom Season 7

Animal Kingdom has been consistently trending on Google for the past twelve months. The series ended in August 2022, and hence, its popularity was at its peak during that period.

Similarly, the Google trends were also on the higher side at this time but slowly declined as the months progressed. The popularity picked up again in the last week of June and the first week of July in 2023.

This was due to the series being made available on Netflix. Although the popularity of the show has shown a downward trend, the dip has been very gradual, and the trend picks up every once in a while.

Social Media Engagement

Social media was buzzing about the series Animal Kingdom when the season 6 finale was telecast. Its popularity and clicks on Facebook were the highest at that period of time.

Following that, the chatter dropped to nil. Any social media attention was focused on Facebook only. With X and Reddit being silent. The show had a slow and natural, plot-driven ending.

This seems to have appeased the fans, and they did not get up to protest the end of the show.

Expected Plot of Upcoming Season

To discuss this bit of the article, I might have to give out many spoilers. If you have not watched the series already, skip this segment  !!! SPOILER ALERT!!! Animal Kingdom is a crime drama that revolves around the Cody family and their close associates.

Throughout the six seasons, we see each of the family members fall to their lowest point and rise to their best in different situations. As season six came to a close all of the members of the Cody family perished apart from Joshua “J” Cody and Deran Cody.

After the death of Craig, Deran promises him to take care of his son like his own. Deran sets out to locate Craig’s ex and take care of his son.

In the finale scene we see J is in an unknown location and setting up his life after achieving his revenge on the family that betrayed his mother. J’s girlfriend is also dead along with the rest of the family, and there is nothing holding J back.

The only scope for the story would be to follow Deran Cody as he locates Craig’s son. It would be interesting to see if he can manage to stay on the straight and narrow away from his past.

The same would apply to J as well.
