Blue Exorcist Season 3 : Everything you need to know in 2021
Highschool Of The Dead Season 2 : Everything you need to know in 2021
Sneha-Posted April 4, 2021
Highschool of the Dead is about the dead and the living. A constant battle is going on between the two parties.
While the Dead are ready to take over our planet Earth, the living survivors are struggling hard to stay alive and fight the dead, or the so-called "Zombies".
The plot revolves around a group of survivors from the Fujimi High School who are trying hard to reach an elementary school that we know is a safe zone.
But reaching the safe zone continues to become more difficult with every passing second.
On their way to the safe zone, they face Zombies, fellow survivors turned immoral beings, and many other dangers that bring their existence into danger.
They need to fight them all to get there. But the question is, is the elementary school really a safe zone?
Can no zombie enter it? Will it remain this way forever?
In that scenario, the world will be turned into ashes and all around there will be only Zombies and a few human survivors in the safe zone.
Surrounded by zombies, how long will they be able to survive? The first season of the anime left us on a cliffhanger.
We didn't get to know what would happen in the end. We didn't get to know whether they found a solution or not.
The battle can't go on forever. It has to end someday or the other. We need to know what happens at the end of it all.
Everything we know about Highschool of the Dead Season 2
Highschool of the Dead is an anime adaptation of a manga of the same name.
In Japan, it is also known as Apocalyptic Academy: Highschool of the Dead. The manga was written by Daisuke Sato, who died in the year 2017, leaving the manga unfinished.
Therefore, the storyline of the anime remains unfinished as well. Season 1 of the anime aired in the year 2010 and was a commercial hit.
Yet the producers didn't take it up for another Season. The reason is unknown and most probably will remain unknown.
Now, with the death of the mangaka, another sequel seems highly unlikely. We won't ever get to know what the original writer had in mind for the ending of the anime.
To get another sequel, we need another writer to give us an engaging storyline as good as the original one.
But hey, doesn't it all seem impossible and frustrating? I know exactly how you feel.
Don't worry lovelies, I've got a surprise for y'all. Just stick with me. I'll let you know what it is.
Official Announcements and Release Date of Highschool of the Dead Season 2
2010 was the year in which the first season of Highschool of the Dead was released.
It has been over 10 years now. There has been no official announcement for the renewal of the series.
I know that's bad news for the fans who have been waiting for years without an end.
But honestly, we can't change the truth, can we? The producers of the anime have given us no hint to hope for Season 2.
Moreover, even the writer of the series is dead. The series did not get a sequel for 7 years while he was alive.
Do you think there is much hope after his demise? I'm afraid no one can tell you that.
Apparently, the original producers of the anime aren't interested in producing a sequel. God knows why?
The series was a commercial blockbuster. Here comes the surprise... A US-based Anime Network is ready to take up the project for Season 2 of the anime Highschool of the Dead.
Although we do not have the answers to your who, when, how questions because it's not yet known to the public.
I know how badly you all want a Season 2 to happen.
Therefore, I will take you through a journey of analyzing all the facts which are important to consider while deciding for another season!
Source Material Information for Highschool of the Dead Season 2
The manga on which the series is based is incomplete due to the death of the mangaka.
Therefore, nothing can be said about the availability of the source material as of now.
As I've said earlier, a US-based Anime Network is willing to produce a second season.
But who will write the story? They'll have to hire another creator to do the job.
Although it is highly unlikely that somebody else would be able to do justice to the storyline.
Yet there's no sin in hoping right? After all, the world runs on hopes and dreams!!!
Let's dig deeper and see if the fans still want it, even after 10 years of waiting?
Expected Plot of Highschool of the Dead Season 2
Season 1 of Highschool of the Dead has not covered 13 chapters of the manga.
Therefore, we can get some idea about the plot of Season 2. In Season 2 we will see Takashi's group deciding to leave the mall.
But things do not work according to their plans. Another insane survivor opens the emergency door and lets "them" get into the mall.
This sudden turn will change things and they will get stuck to rescue the insane survivor.
A disclaimer for you all. We presently do not have much source material which will provide us with the exact plot.
All we are trying to do is provide you with a rough sketch of the expected plot of Season 2, based on the little material available, and our assumptions.
In Season 2 of Highschool of the Dead, we expect to see a solution is found by the group to root this problem out permanently.
The war can't go on forever, right? There has to be an end to it.
Who will win the final battle? The Dead, or the living?
Popularity Information of Highschool of the Dead Season 2
We can estimate the popularity of an anime by seeing google trends, monthly search volumes for the anime, and going through social media pages.
A popular show will have a high probability to get a new season. So let's look at them one by one.
Let's see what Google has to say regarding the trend around the anime Highschool of the Dead Season 2 in the US.
It has been quite fluctuating, isn't it? But the good news is, it was never very low.
We can see the graph rising high in 2021. Well, what more can we wish for?
A rising graph means a rising craze. That might convince the producers to go for a Season 2.
Okay, so can we believe this? My eyeballs are literally out of their sockets! Lol… 74k searches on an average every freaking month in the US, for the keyword Highschool of the Dead.
Oh yes, the Americans love this show. Even after all this time? I would say ALWAYS (Oh, nevermind.
I'm a Potterhead.) Of course, this can be for the manga, Season 1, or Season 2.
But it shows how strong the craze is. Want to know the search volume for the keyword Highschool of the Dead Season 2?
It's a whopping 9,900 searches a month. Oh, Jesus, the numbers make me feel so good!
Does the anime have a good social media presence? Do they have an official Twitter account?
If yes, how many followers are there? Do they post regularly? These questions should be considered while deciding for a Season 2.
You can see the truth yourself. There isn't an official Twitter account for the anime Highschool of the Dead.
Of course, there are fan pages. But even there the follower base is not so high.
What might be the cause of such a low follower base? Well, I guess people are fed up with waiting.
What about Instagram?
Do they have an official Instagram presence? Unfortunately, they don't. But no worries, the fan page on Instagram has a pretty good follower base. 24.6k isn't a bad number at all.
Is it? Guys, let me know what you people think in the comments section below.
I'm pretty confused about the chances of getting a Season 2. Your opinions would help me a lot.
After all, I too am just another fan of the series, waiting for a second season, most ardently!
There are a lot of questions and answers regarding the series Highschool of the Dead Season 1 & 2, but there isn't any, so-called, account, particularly dedicated to the anime.
Or maybe I was unable to discover one. The thing is, I am not very acquainted with Reddit as a platform.
Maybe that's the reason I couldn't search for the page. Do correct me if I'm wrong.
Online Reactions for Highschool of the Dead Season 2
Online reactions help creators to assess how well their creation is received by the public. Positive feedback from the general public means they can make a positive decision regarding the anime.
Do you see the comment? That's how badly they love the anime. This person is willing to create it himself/herself.
Lol! Not that it's impossible. It's nearly impossible. Besides, we don't have enough source material.
So, you know how bleak the chances are!
Lance Grey is hurt to realize that such a piece of art won't be continued for another season.
He loves the anime and it remains as his top 3 personal favorites. Lance, you spoke our hearts out. 'Rapsody930' says that the anime is insanely good.
These comments are just a few months old. This shows people are still watching it and are in love with it.
Good news right!
The creators are testing our patience, I'm telling you. The anime as well as the manga was commercially successful.
Why the hell are we not getting a Season 2? Can't they get another good writer to complete the storyline for us?
I know man, I know. I can connect with you so well. Your reactions are making me feel nostalgic about the first time I watched the series.
Ratings and Reviews for Highschool of the Dead Season 2
IMDB has given Highschool of the Dead Season 1, a rating of 7.2 out of 10.
Myanimelist has given the series a rating of 7.1 out of 10. TV.com has given a rating of 8.6 out of 10.
The ratings are pretty good, aren't they? But they are just numbers. And when it comes to feelings, we should rather trust a good review than a rating.
What do you say? Let's take a look at what the viewers have to say about the anime.
The above review would be very pleasing to the fans of the anime. But are all the reviews good, or, positive ones?
Is there nobody who didn't like the plot? Well, the answer is yes.
That's what this person had to say. Was he wrong? That cannot be, because it's his opinion.
When it comes to your choice of anime, there's no right or wrong. So, this is just another person telling us what he felt after watching the series.
We should learn to take constructive criticism on our face.
Sales and Profit Information for Highschool of the Dead Season 2
This is the most important factor while deciding for another season. As I have told you all earlier in my other articles, producing anime, is a very expensive venture.
Therefore, if the manga or Season 1 hasn't been a commercial hit, hoping for Season 2 is useless.
Sales and Profit margin of Highschool of the Dead manga
The manga, on which the anime was based, was commercially successful. In the year 2010, the manga Highschool of the Dead was #5 on the Oricon best-selling charts.
That's indeed a big deal. So this might convince the US-based Anime Network to find a suitable writer and continue the series.
Sales and Profit Margin of Highschool of the Dead anime
Due to digitization, Blu-ray disc sales have been going down. People nowadays prefer to stream it online from platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu etcetera.
In this digital world, is there anybody who would like to get a Blu-ray disc?
I highly doubt it. And with the rise in online streaming platforms, we no more get to know about the sales and profit margin of a particular anime.
Since season 1 was released a while ago, we did found something. Total Blu-ray sales stood at 4,562 copies while DVD sales were 2,250 copies in Japan.
It's a good number.
Famous Characters for Highschool of the Dead Season 2
Do you love any character who is going to appear in season 2? Let's discuss a few of them.
Saeko is one of the main protagonists of the anime Highschool of the Dead Season 1.
We will meet her again in the second season for sure. From the beginning, till the end, we can see how calm and composed Saeko is.
An athletic fighter, Saeko is very good at kendo. She has been kind and generous towards the people she has worked with.
Her kindness and exceptional fighting skills are the reason she survived all the hardships and attacks by "them".
Saeko has blue eyes, purple hair and is too long for a Japanese girl. She is the second oldest member of her high school team, and therefore she treats her teammates as if she is their older sister.
The oldest and the most responsible member of the team is Shizuka Marikawa. She is also one of the protagonists of the anime Highschool of the Dead Season 1.
Shizuka is a nurse of the Fujimi High School. She is the only adult in the group, and yet is the one who is emotionally fragile.
Her life changes upside down after the "Outbreak" of Zombies in Japan and other parts of the world.
Looking after everyone's health is her responsibility and she fulfilled it very well. When drunk, Shizuka's mind turns into a very sexually oriented one.
Whatever people say or do during this phase is interpreted sexually by her. We will meet Shizuka in Season 2 as an important character.
The main protagonist of the anime, Takashi is a second-year student of Fujimi Academy in the anime.
Takashi is the founder and leader of the main group of survivors. He has strong feelings for his childhood friend Rei Miyamoto, as well as his team member Saeko Busujima.
Complicated isn't it? Feelings are most complicated, but it's not the same.
People do not fall for two ladies at the same time very often unless you are interested in a time pass and playboy kind of thing.
Assuming that Takashi isn't a guy of that type, we will settle with the fact that he isn't sure about his feelings.
A confused soul, Takashi is trying to figure out who is the one he has fallen for!
Takashi will resume his role as one of the most important characters of the anime.
Why do we want a Season 2 of the anime Highschool of the Dead?
Do we really need to answer this question? This is what seems silly to me, but I will do it anyway to once again put our points together, clearly.
In the Season 1 of the anime, we didn't get a proper ending to the story.
The survivor's fight but will this fight go on forever? Moreover, they are very few in number.
How long will they be able to stand their ground? If they don't get a solution to end this "outbreak" of "them", there wouldn't be one human being on planet Earth.
Only Zombies will walk the Earth and that doesn't sound very pleasing to our human ears, does it?
We want to see them hunt for a proper solution, and win the war. We want to see the fate of our Earth in an otherwise scenario.
A proper ending is what we want. A proper ending is what we demand. Fulfill it, or we will continue poking you forever!
Other Decisive factors for Highschool of the Dead Season 2
We have not explicitly discussed two important factors which may play a decisive role in season 2.
These two are ending and controversy of the previous season. Let see them one by one.
Ending of Highschool of the Dead Season 1
The ending of Season 1 has received mixed reviews from the viewers.
Some loved it and wanted it to be continued, while some were sure it was messed up and wanted it to be continued as well.
You see, everyone wants another Season of this anime. Personally, I didn't like the ending.
It was pretty weird. The way they all smiled before starting a massacre was particularly odd.
I mean, I agree that the characters are brave people, but alas, they are 'people' or 'humans', fighting 'Zombies'.
It is a war between the living and the dead, so you cannot, just cannot give that meaningless smile.
Anybody amongst you all seen Game of Thrones? If yes, you most probably remember the Great War between the Dead and the Living right?
The Dead never tire, they do not feel, they do not fear, but the living do!
That's the difference. Having feelings, tiring, and fear, is a privilege in normal life, but a weak point while battling with "them".
That's the reason I didn't like that smile. It just spoiled my mood honestly.
The controversy surrounding the anime Highschool of the Dead
Is there any controversy around the anime Highschool of the Dead? Well, it's just a clash of different opinions.
Some people blame the anime for not being creative at all.
According to them, it is just a series which contains everything that is popular nowadays, a lot of fights, magical creatures, huge breasts etcetera.
That's what a small section of the viewers think about the show. Highschool of the Dead, according to them, is the most standout anime in the genre of silliest anime.
Is that true? No one can answer that except you, and your answer might not be applicable to others.
Everybody has to think for their own selves. Did the anime seem silly? Did it waste their time?
Did they like it? There's no other way to know the answer. Do you want to know my opinions regarding this?
Well, I do not find this silly at all. Honestly, the scene described in the above review is quite silly of course, but the whole series isn't.
Highschool of the Dead is just another anime full of fantastical elements which many people do not like.
With this, we come to an end to today's discussion. All the important factors are analyzed.
If the US-based Anime Network takes up the project, we can expect to binge-watch Season 2 of Highschool of the Dead very soon.
Most probably, by the end of 2021 or at the beginning of 2022. If we come to know about any updates regarding the sequel, we will definitely let you know.
I Will catch up with you again, and we will discuss some other interesting series. Till then, stay tuned and stay safe.
