Tamako Kitashirakawa, a lovable yet accident-prone teenager, hails from a family of mochi bakers who operate the quaint Tama-ya shop. Unexpectedly, Tamako encounters a talking bird named Dera Mochimazzi, who claims to be royalty in search of a suitable bride for his country's prince.
